POKOTABI / Tetchoko
てっちょこ
The lunchtime karaage set meal pairs 150g of domestically sourced chicken thigh with salad, a small side dish, pickles and miso soup. In the evening, try fried oden daikon infused with flavour or house-made atsuage. Here’s how to choose a meal at Tetchoko.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The lunchtime karaage set meal comes with 150g of domestically sourced chicken thigh, salad, a small side dish, pickles and miso soup. One diner who ordered it for a weekday solo lunch mentioned being able to get a second helping of rice and liking the sauce served on the side. At 1,000 yen, the meal centres on chicken thigh seasoned well in advance, making it an easy choice when you want a complete lunch.
For fish, the grilled salted mackerel set meal is also 1,000 yen and comes with salad and a small side dish, among other accompaniments. The teriyaki chicken thigh and soboro rice set meal centres on a bowl topped with house-made soboro, and likewise includes salad, a small side dish, pickles and miso soup. If you’re deciding between set meals, choose the karaage for a generous taste of chicken, or go for the mackerel or soboro rice to suit your mood.
For an evening dish, fried oden daikon stands out: flavour-infused daikon served in seven bite-sized pieces. It could be a good pick for something to nibble between other dishes, and it has also been recommended by diners. Another warming option is the house-made atsuage, described on the menu as crisp and fluffy when freshly fried. It also makes a tempting match for beer or Gunma sake.
Tetchoko offers counter seating and is described as suitable for solo diners.
